Dual Spec, worth 1k?

I’ve been mulling about dual spec for a while now. As a mage, it’s not really been the best investment but I’ve changed my mind somewhat. The reason Dual Spec is useful for Mages, can be summed up simply as Elemental Fights.

As a Mage, your spec basically indicates what kind of damage you do. If you’re Arcane, you shoot purple awesome at people; Fire, you shoot your Fireballz at people, and Frost, you throw lances of ice. Frostfire Bolt spec can be written off for this investigation, as no mobs have resistance to Frostfire damage, giving FFB mages a free ride out of this problem.

Now, as a ‘normal’ mage, if you have a fight where the boss has heavy resistances to your type of damage. You are, to put it politely, fucked. You’ll get resisted more often, and as such, your spells will deal less damage.

Let’s take Sapphiron as an example. In Naxx40, he was immune to frost. In EZNaxx, he’s merrily resistant to it. If you go in as a frost mage, you’re wasting your potential. With dual spec, you can take your prefered spec through to him, switch to another, less gimped spec, for the fight, and be on your merry way. Mind you, as frost spec, you get fun mindfuck abilities in that fight, like wiping the raid like a douche, so /shrug.

Other people might like using their off spec for PvP. That’s great too, but is it really worth 1000 gold? If you’re serious about getting owned in Arenas, then yes, I imagine it is. To someone like me, who finds small scale PvP to be terebad, it’s not worth it at all.

So, is Dual Spec worth it? I’m still not sure, but if you’ve got a spare 1k lying around (after buying Epic Flight) go for it.

SPECIAL FUN BONUS QQ : Dual Spec is just another piece of proof that Blizz only wants people playing classes with multiple roles, and that they hate Mages, Warlocks, Hunters and Rogues. (/joke, guys, seriously…)

Rep Grinds are Fun?

Alright, as you may already know, I’m totally batshit insane. Not quite [Insane in the Membrane], possibly more crazy, than insane. (Although, I am hoarding mats for Shen’dralar, so…) Now as a part of my multitasking groove in Warcraft, I’ve got a lot of alts. Enough so I can play one ’till I run out of rested, move onto the next, and so on, so by the time I get back to the first one in the cycle, she’s got at least a whole level of rested XP.

One of these alts is a Death Knight. Just like everyone else who has got an 80 that isn’t a DK. She’s at level 64, and is at the bottom of Nagrand’s reccomended level bracket. So, to try and multitask like a pro, I’ve decided that she’s going to obtain the Talbuk mounts from the Mag’har (Kurenai is you’re alliance, but she isn’t) so I carted her off to Nagrand, and found some Ogres, who drop [Obsidian Warbeads] and give 10 reputation with the Mag’har per kill.

Now, I did some math once I hit the bottom of Friendly, and came up with the following numbers.

Beads needed to get from 0/6000 Friendly, to Exalted : 780 (78 turnins at 500 rep per 10 beads)

Kills needed to get from 0/6000 Friendly, to Exalted : 3900 (10 rep each)

Kills needed to get 780 warbeads (37% droprate) : (Okay, I didn’t get this done, because I can’t remember how, and I’ve had it sitting here for a few days now…)

Uhh, yeah, I decided that I just need to get something out, expect an update soon(tm). Expect another post soon too!

Project Loremaster : Well, it’s a beginning.

Alright. So, I’ve got 100% of the non seasonal (Which don’t count anyway) quests for Eversong Woods. Pyrin is about 86% through level 12, and we’re heading off to Trisfal Glades next.

Now for the stats;

For other interesting (not) stats, see after the break.

Project Loremaster : Intro

Well, well. Look who’s come crawling back to post something. Me!

I’m working on Loremaster on a new toon, a priest. She’s currently level 10, with [Tattered Dreadmist Mantle]. She’s done the first few quest hubs in Eversong, and will move her way through zones chronologically by level.

At level 6.

At level 6.

Plan is to get her to finish Eversong tomorrow, then move on to Trisfal Glades, then Durotar, and finally to Mulgore.

Once they’re all ~100% done, we move onto the second tier of zones, otherwise known as Ghostlands, Silverpine Forest, and The Barrens (which is more like tier 2.5), and so on ’till we finish all of azeroth. If at that stage, the [Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms] and [Loremaster of Kalamador] achievement’s aren’t complete, then we go back using our log of quests complete, soloing instances, finding drops to start quests, and whatever, ’till they’re both gained. Then we move onto Outland, doing each zone’s Loremaster achievement in order, and finally going to Northrend, and doing the same there.

After that, I’ll mop up any dungeon quests, holiday quests, and what not, ’till I finish [3000 Quests Completed].

It’s going to be a long journey, that’s for sure.
