Summer Gaming Goals

Now, I’m not quite sure what brought this idea into my head, but I have decided that I need to focus myself on playing/beating certain games this summer. To kinda grind away at that pile of shame (mountain of shame – Olympus Mons large is kinda what I’m talking about here).

So, I kinda made a list. By that I mean, I thought of a few things, and in wondering where I should put the list down, I remembered that I needed to write a post for here… and then I decided to write this because I’m still not ready to do SKYRIM. Well, I’m not finished with it (the post) yet. Give me the rest of the week, jeez.

Also should probably note that it’s a summer gaming goal list because I live in bizzaro land, where up is down and the seasons are reversed. It’s okay, we still get the internets here, so I’m cool.

The list is after the break, because this post is kinda long, go figure.

Look, it's a kinda random image from Skyrim! HOW EXCITING.

Without further ado, here is the list as it stands- in no real priority order, but probably will be focused on in this order apart from a few special cases. Will talk about them after the list, to make it a bit easier on the eyes.

  • TES V: Skyrim – 40 hours (at least) (currently at ~14hours)
  • Disgaea 4 – 50 additional hours (to beat main story missions)
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic – 80 bajillion hours (err, 200ish?)
  • Final Fantasy XIII – 5-10 hours (near the end already)
  • Catherine – 5-10 hours (unsure, about 1/3 to 1/2 way through)
  • ALL THE PS3 JRPGS (200 hours?)
    • Atelier Rorona – 40(?) hours
    • Trinity Universe -40(?) hours
    • Ar Tonelico Qoga – 40(?) hours
    • Hyperdimension Neptunia – 40(?) hours
    • Atelier Totori (sequel to Rorona) – 40(?) hours
  • Embodiment of Scarlet Devil – 5-10 hours (hard, no continues)
  • Guild Wars – As many hours as I want (40?)
  • Assorted Games for Arcane Envoy Plays – ~20 hours? (1hr/week)

This list is by no means accurate or complete – for instance it’s missing gems like Sonic Generations (which apparently is fucking awesome), Uncharted 3 (it’s good, will beat it eventually)… all the other games coming out this November… it’s kinda crazy, to be honest.

So, let’s get to the explaining.

Skyrim – Okay, this is pretty obvious. My goals are to finish the Thieves & Mage guild storylines, and eventually get all the achievements. 50 hours is probably enough for that, but who knows?

Disgaea 4 – This might even be a conservative number. I’m really lazy (regarding actually thinking much in these fights… everything always goes worse than expected), so I like to grind early and grind often, meaning it takes me forever and a day to actually complete the story.

The Old Republic - This number is based off of a number a vaguely remember as being roughly what I figured the amount of money and bandwidth I’m spending on the game will be worth. This game will probably get a not-dissimilar treatment to Skyrim, although maybe a more critical one because it’s an MMO and I know people who really like it. Which is always dangerous.

Final Fantasy XIII – Preparation for XIII-2, also because I am really close to the end of the game, and want to get it out of the way.

Catherine – Watching the Persona 4 anime last week reminded me that I have yet to finish this game. Lower priority than it’s position might indicate.

Many RPGs, Handle It - This is kinda the majority of the pile of shame, well, no, but it’s representative of it. I’ve got dozens of 40+ hour RPGs to slog through, because I can’t not buy them, but never get enough TV time to finish them.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil - (a.k.a. Touhou 6) One, it’s game of the year, every years (at least Touhou of the year, every years). Two, it’s been forever since I last beat it (on normal, therefore the difficulty boost and obviously the goal of no continues for max score/replays) Not super high priority, but I’ll sink 30 minutes or so in every week, it adds up.

Guild Wars – This is partially dependent on if I can convince anyone else to play with me, although I’d like to work on filling out my Hall of Monuments in preparation for GW2.

Arcane Envoy Plays - Still plan to do these weekly, so that’s a thing that is going to eat up an hour or two a week (combined recording/editing/uploading).

Not sure about a few things, and I was considering throwing up a poll just to try and get some priority on the JRPG mini-pile, but if you have an opinion, comment! Or contact me some other way. Whatever works.
